Finish:11:00am - Thursday 8th Mar 2018
Our
International Women's Day event this year will involve: coffee & cake morning tea
featuring a panel discussion with some inspiring women; a Women's
Sailing Rally around Moreton Bay at lunchtime; and a cocktail evening
event with a drink on arrival, chef's selection of savouries and guest
speakers.
The Rally will be run similar to WAGS (without the formal competitive infrastructure) where IWD event guests at the Squadron can experience sailing on Moreton Bay in a fun and enjoyable environment.
We're currently looking for vessels, female skippers and crew to participate in our Rally.
If you're interested in either attending the event and / or volunteering your vessel (power and sail welcome!), volunteer as a skipper or lend your skills as crew then please contact: volunteers@rqys.com.au
Men are also invited (and strongly encouraged!) to participate, but we intend for all our skippers on the day to be women - showcasing the strength, experience and expertise of our female sailing fraternity (and hopefully inspiring other women to take the helm on their own sailing journeys!).
Sailing is a sport which can be enjoyed by anyone - regardless of age or gender - anytime, and in whatever capacity you choose (racing / cruising).
We're so lucky to have strong, influential and inspirational women in our midst at the Squadron - Olympians, racers, cruisers, and volunteers.
This day is an opportunity to celebrate the successes of our female members and encourage other women and their families to get involved in this exceptional sport of ours; ultimately promoting improved health, well-being and community for women.
If you have any other questions, queries or suggestions about our 2018 IWD Event please don't hesitate to also contact: publications@rqys.com.au
