Invitation to all RQYS members and WAGS sailors
24th September 2016
0900 in the RQYS Auditorium
Lasting approx. 1.5 hours
Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) officers have been involved in a
series of educational safety seminars focusing on Sailing Safety. These
seminars have been very well received and provide a forum for club
representatives and members to ask questions and confirm their understanding of
areas including:
·
Emergency Preparedness
·
Roles and Responsibilities of masters and crew
·
Recreational Licensing requirements
·
International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972
·
Speed on the water
·
Appropriate ship registration
Marine Officers try to focus these seminars on learnings taken
from actual marine incidents and investigations to provide a “from the horse’s mouth”
perspective on maritime regulation and compliance enforcement.
Officers are
available to provide educational seminar presentations to your member group at
no charge and we regularly team up with representatives of other marine
agencies such as Qld Water Police, Marine Parks, Qld Boating and Fisheries,
AVCG and VMR to enhance the overall educational benefit.
One seminar specifically targeted at sailing safety
(maybe at RQYS) and another general marine safety seminar (maybe at MBTBC).
We invite all RQYS volunteers and sailors to attend this seminar. There will be other dates and venues announced in the coming months.
